Freedom from Addiction is possible. Addiction is a complex Neurological Condition however Recovery from your own home is possible through Virtual Recovery Coaching.
About me
I am a warm, compassionate, professional inspired to empower suffers of Addiction and Complex Trauma to find freedom in their lives. I have a personal journey of addiction that started with an eating disorder in my teens, progressed to workaholism, partying, seeking validation through men and finally alcoholic addiction. I was on the relapse, rehab merry-go-round for many years struggling to accept my addiction until I lost almost everything I held dear (including my dignity ;-). Not ticking any of the traditional boxes as a candidate for addiction I dived deep into understanding my condition. I understand the neuroscience, biology and psychology of addition. I am trauma-informed and understand the developmental model and how ansestory impacts our condition. I have studied both addiction and the neuroscience of mental health, in addition to my coaching studies. A have deep understanding of this complex neurological condition, but more importantly I now know what to do to recover and how to build a life you truly don’t want to escape from. Although I appreciate 12 Step Programs as a valuable tool in recovery my program works with or in place of 12 steps. I work with professionals who are commited to building a life in recovery.
My Philosophy of Care
The approach I take is one of consciously co-creating with you the life you want without drink, drugs or unhelpful behaviours. Together we develop mindfulness practices and work with grounding tools to maintain or reach a sense of calm and take away the desire to pick up. I utilise a combination of tools and approaches, from traditional psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassionate Inquiry, Mindfulness, Goals-oriented Coaching, Experiential Learning, Somatics & Buddhist principles.
What You Can Expect On Your First Visit
The first visit is a complimentary discovery call of 30 Minutes. The first session depends on where you’re at; emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually (if this is important to you). The first session may be extreme stress minimisation or we can start into stabilisation and goal setting and habit defining in all areas of life.
My Inspiration
I have always had a deep interest in understanding people’s psychological drivers and has spent many years studying to better understand the human mind. I spent 15 years in Corporate, most recently as the Head of People & Culture (HR). On a journey of self-discovery I paired continual academic study with the study of Buddhist philosophy and meditation. After a personal dark journey into alcoholism I studied Complex Psychological Trauma and Addiction and became a certified Recovery Coach.
